Valentines inspo for a spring
In my previous blog, we looked at the Winter season, and how blue based clear and bright people can ‘do’ Valentines Day, and next up we have Spring. Spring is a season that also suits clear and bright colours, but it’s yellow based, meaning the colour has a higher percentage of yellow to it. If you are a Spring, and you want to have a special outfit for either Valentines, Galentines or just because you deserve to feel good - I’ve got you covered.
The colours from your palette that I’ve selected are gold; using your metal to bring the warmth and luxury to the overall aesthetic, Geranium Pink; to bring out the feminine cliche of February 14th, and of course, Poppy; the red that is the hallmark of love. These three colours combined add warmth, glamour and tradition - three elements that make the outfit suitable for Valentines.
I mentioned this in my previous blog for Winters, but I want to reiterate - it doesn’t matter who you are, what your relationship status is or isn’t, you are designed to be loved; whether it’s by friends, family or a significant someone, you are not forgotten, you are worthy of love and being loved - whatever shape or form that comes in.
For me, love has looked different over the years. I’ve found love in the laughter of my housemates through lockdown when we had nothing else to do but curl our hair, drink Baileys and scroll TikTok videos. I’ve found love in the advice from my parents when I’ve been heartbroken and low, and I’ve found love from unlikely friendships I’ve made with random people I’ve met on the Tube when I lived in London. Love doesn’t need to be conventional, it is whatever it means to you - and that’s ok.
Now we’ve established that you’re absolutely amazing and incredible - let’s talk about clothes! Here’s the moodboard I’ve put together for Springs for Valentines Day. And below I’ve linked the items to the websites, if you want to shop any of the items.
You all know I’m obsessed with Jayley, and the obsession continues with this coat. Perfect for Valentines, the red is vibrant and has a clean boarder that contrasts and adds interest. Paired with the love heart cardigan and love heart earrings, the colours and shapes all echo each other, giving you an effortlessly put together aesthetic.
I wanted to pull out the gold more, and add some glamour to the outfit. Because the cardigan and coat are soft textures, I’ve paired the look with a Never Fully Dressed faux leather skirt to transition the casual soft fabrics of the coat and cardigan, to more evening-appropriate with the sheen of the faux leather. This skirt can be dressed up or down, and paired with the Anthropologie red block heels ultimately elevate the overall look whilst staying true to Valentines Day with the red.
Like any well co-ordinated outfit, accessories make this aesthetic look finished. So, to complete this look, I’ve sourced this gorgeous bubble clutch bag from Verano Hill, along with a cute red bow from Free People.
Whether you’re out shopping, having afternoon drinks with the girls, or being romanced on an evening date, this outfit will see you Spring girlies through from day to night, whatever your plans are.
And remember, whoever you’re spending the day with is absolutely lucky to know you.
