The Red Carpet - How To FInd The RIght Red For You

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been scrolling through pictures of celebs on the red carpet. Red is having a moment right now, and don’t we know it! With celebs putting the ‘red’ in the red carpet, it might be begging the question for you ‘can I wear red?’.

The answer, my friend, is yes.

‘Red doesn’t suit me’ is something I hear almost every time I meet a client. It’s an easy mistake to make to think that you can’t wear red, but it’s not true. To make colour, red is front and centre in that process - meaning it’s literally in everything, so if it’s in everything then it means it will work for you. Where it gets technical is how to know which red is your colour, and how to spot it.

That’s where I come in.

You know by now that as an Image Consultant, I do Colour Analysis and help you discover the colours that make you look super healthy and in-focus and that includes showing you your red - including which red lip is best for your complexion and colours.

Red can move in one of two ways; towards more yellow-based colours or towards more blue-based colours. Think if the difference between postbox red and burgundy, they’re totally different directions so no wonder people get lost in working out what’s right for them.

The main thing I want to tell you is to not be afraid. Easier said than done, I know. Red is used for alerting people of danger, think of the stop sign, alarms, the traffic light or the fuel light on your car - so no wonder people have such a bad reaction or panic when thinking about wearing the colour. In addition to this, it’s used as a passionate colour; a sexy colour that could be seen as sensual or ‘the scarlet woman’. But I want to remind you that it’s also a colour of respect and honour; think about 11th November and what the poppy represents, or the British phone box, the Royal Mail or the details of high ranking military officers. Once you come to terms with red not being so scary, and once you find the right red for you, you immediately walk with more confidence because it’s such an empowering colour, and the right one will look amazing on you.

Something I always, always, always say to my clients who panic about being ‘seen’ is that you are not invisible, so you will always be seen. It’s my job to help you to be seen for the right reasons. So when you wear red, or any colour for that matter, try not to panic about being see! You’re not invisible so you might as well be seen looking incredible, in-focus and healthy.

Check out the different reds for each season, and if you want to chat more or discover your red, contact me or book in.
